Dear MUN Director,
We cordially invite your school to the 4th annual session of Da Vinci Model United Nations (DaViMUN), held on Saturday, March 7 and Sunday, March 8, 2015 in Leiden, The Netherlands.
DaViMUN is a two-day international Model United Nations (MUN) Conference for and by high school students. At DaViMUN, students assume the roles of diplomats, representing a nation or NGO in a simulated session of a UN committee or international organization (e.g. the UN Security Council or the Council of the European Union). DaViMUN is an exciting opportunity for students to learn about foreign policy and to seek solutions to the problems faced by world leaders today. They will respond to these problems by drafting resolutions and engaging in negotiation and debate. In doing so, students develop communication- and critical thinking skills such as leadership, teamwork, policy analysis, research, active listening and public speaking.
After a very successful 2014 conference on “Shifting powers”, our staff of passionate and dedicated Da Vinci students is working hard on pulling off the next conference. It is my great pleasure to serve as Secretary-General, with the people that were so crucial to our success in 2014, as well as with newcomers who bring a set of great new skills to our organization.
The theme of DaViMUN 2015 is ‘Crossing borders’, focusing on political issues that affect more than one country. Right now, the IS is deciding its own borders, while Ebola is ignoring all borders and spreading rapidly. And dams in the Mekong River potentially endanger many lives depending on fishery. While coping with these on-going changes is at the heart of our conference, upcoming crises are paid equal attention to. For instance, water management, earth’s carrying capacity, cyberwarfare and the environment will all be the subject of debate at DaViMUN2015.
We would be pleased and honoured to have your school participate at our conference. Please refer to our website at www.davimun.org to obtain further information. School Registrations are due Friday, January 23, 2015.
If you have any questions, comments or suggestions, please do not hesitate to contact the Secretariat General by e-mail at email@example.com.
We look forward to meeting you at Da Vinci College in March 2015.
