A Dinner instead of a Party?!

DaViMUN Dinner

For DaViMUN 2014 the staff has decided not to have a party. But don’t despair there will be an alternative! DaViMUN 2014 will have a dinner, completely free of charge!

The dinner will be held on Saturday the 21st of June. It will start at 19:00 in the Lipsiusgebouw from the University of Leiden. A map can be found on the bottom of this page and will also be included in the booklet.

Why a dinner?

We’ve decided not to hold a party for multiple reasons. First of all we think a dinner is more suitable for everyone and we want everyone to have a moment off from the formal activities and to just have a good time!

General Information:

First of all, it’s important to know that the dinner is free of charge! The dinner will start at 7 PM (19:00) in the Lipsiusgebouw. It’s fairly close to the conference, and not difficult to find. But if you don’t feel like finding the location yourself, please join some of the staff members, who’ll also walk to the dinner.

What will be served?

The dinner will start with some appetizers served with baguette and garlic butter.

  • Skewer with mozzarella, tomato and fresh basilicum.
  • Stiritani with raw ham.
  • Olives

The dinner will continue with the main buffet.

  • Pasta bolognese
  • Pasta carbonara
  • Vegetarian lasagna
  • Pizza slices
  • Salads

The dinner will end with a desert.

  • Yoghurts
  • Tiramisu

There will be water on the table and 2 free drinks will be served per person. No alcohol will be served.

DaViMUN 2014

We cordially invite your school to the 3rd annual session of Da Vinci Model United Nations (DaViMUN), held on Saturday, June 21 and Sunday, June 22, 2014 in Leiden, The Netherlands.

DaViMUN is a two-day international Model United Nations (MUN) Conference for and by high school students. At DaViMUN, students assume the roles of diplomats, representing a nation or NGO in a simulated session of a UN committee or international organization (e.g. the UN Security Council or the Council of the European Union). DaViMUN is an exciting opportunity for students to learn about foreign policy and to seek solutions to the problems faced by world leaders today. They will respond to these problems by drafting resolutions and engaging in negotiation and debate. In doing so, students develop communication- and critical thinking skills such as leadership, teamwork, policy analysis, research, active listening and public speaking.

After a very successful 2013 conference on the World in Crisis, our staff of passionate and dedicated Da Vinci students is working hard on pulling off the next conference. It is my great pleasure to serve as Secretary-General, with the people that were so crucial to our success in 2013, as well as with newcomers who bring a set of great new skills to our organization. The theme of DaViMUN 2014 is ‘Shifting powers’, focusing on the shift of economic and political power. Right now, America’s political power is decreasing, while China is making it’s way to the top of the financial world. At the same time, Europe is still recovering from the Eurozone crisis caused by the collapse of the Greek economy at the beginning of 2010. While coping with these on-going changes is at the heart of our conference, upcoming crises are paid equal attention to. For instance, the earth’s carrying capacity, population ageing, cyberwarfare and the environment will all be the subject of debate at DaViMUN 2014.

We would be pleased and honoured to have your school participate at our conference. If you have any questions, comments or suggestions, please do not hesitate to contact the Secretariat General by e-mail at info@davimun.org.

We look forward to meeting you at Da Vinci College in June 2014.
